The Golden Civic Centre is centrally located downtown on Highway 95 South adjacent to the Kicking Horse River in Golden, BC. Built by community volunteers in 1948 from posts & beams salvaged from the Columbia River Lumber Company, our Civic Centre was lovingly restored and enhanced in 2011 as Golden’s dedicated performing arts & community cultural centre. The Great Hall is a beautifully warm gathering place for concerts, banquets, and weddings. Additional rooms throughout the building are available for business and social meetings.
The Great Hall
Since re-opening with a Gala celebration on New Year’s 2011, the Great Hall has hosted dozens of star concert performances with artists as diverse as Steve Earle, Bruce Cockburn, Ziggy Marley, Ballet Kelowna, and Flamenco Rosario. During the $3m restoration process, great care was taken to preserve and honour the past as we applied the necessary upgrades to transform the Civic Centre into Golden’s dedicated performing arts and cultural space. The heritage feel and theatrical capacity of the hall has also delighted numerous wedding parties, conference and banquets.
Located on the lower floor, the spacious Conference Room is accessible by stairs or elevator from the main entrance and gallery foyer. It is perfect for meetings and workshops up to 40 people. The large conference table easily sits 12 people in very comfortable chairs suitable for long meetings. The Catering Kitchen is immediately adjacent to the Conference Room and connected by a “pass through window” for easy access to catering during your event. Free Wi-Fi is available.
Designed by a caterer in collaboration with other local caterers, the kitchen is conveniently located next to the Conference Room located on the lower floor and is primarily positioned as a prep kitchen. For load in and load out, the kitchen also has direct access to the outside by external stairs. Since completion, the kitchen has been used by many chefs for a variety of events including weddings, banquets, and conferences.
